ABA & Tuberous Sclerosis Complex

By the Autumn ABA clinical team · BCBA-led, in-home ABA across New Jersey

Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a genetic condition often associated with autism and developmental needs. ABA can support skills and behavior alongside the essential medical management TSC requires.

A developmental, supportive role

TSC is a complex medical condition (which can involve seizures and other effects) managed closely by physicians. Because autism and developmental challenges commonly co-occur with TSC, ABA can support communication, learning, daily-living skills, and behavior — while the medical team leads care.

Safety-aware and coordinated

A BCBA works closely with your family to understand your child’s medical needs and any precautions (such as around seizures) so sessions are safe and appropriate. ABA complements, and never replaces, the medical care TSC requires. Related: autism & epilepsy.

Frequently asked questions

Can ABA help a child with tuberous sclerosis?

When autism and developmental challenges co-occur with TSC, ABA can support communication, learning, daily-living, and behavioral skills, delivered safely and in close coordination with the medical team.

Is ABA safe for a child with TSC and seizures?

Yes, when the team understands the child's medical needs and seizure precautions. ABA addresses developmental and behavioral goals — never the medical condition — and coordinates with physicians.

This page is general educational information, not medical advice. Every child is different — a BCBA can assess your child’s specific needs. Autumn ABA serves families in all 21 NJ counties; see where we provide ABA therapy.
